• You usually need experience working as a care assistant or senior care worker already. It’s designed for people who are already in the care sector (not beginners).
• Experience of practical care work and some competence in basic care tasks is expected before taking on more advanced modules.

🎓 2. Minimum Qualification Level

• Most providers ask for a minimum at least Level 2 standard (for example NVQ/QCF/RQF Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent).
• This means you should be comfortable with basic care knowledge and supporting people’s needs safely before moving onto the CHAPs level training.

🤝 3. Supported by Your Employer

• Typically courses are done through your employer, who will support you with workplace competency assessments and sign‑offs during the training period.
• Because CHAPs training includes workplace competencies, employers usually nominate staff to enrol and complete it.

While not formal requirements, successful participants tend to need:

• Motivation and enthusiasm for advanced clinical and management learning.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, good communication skills, and responsibility for undertaking more clinical tasks under supervision.
